By accessing or using the website and application known as Bag It Bin It (bagitbinit.com and its associated mobile apps, together "the Service"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is

Bag It Bin It is a memory aid designed to help dog owners avoid forgetting bagged waste they have set down, and to help locate nearby public waste bins. It is a convenience tool only. It does not change, suspend, or override your legal duty to dispose of your dog's waste properly, and using it does not make leaving a bag in a public place lawful.

2. Responsible use

You agree:

  • to use the bag-pinning feature only as a reminder aid, and not as a means of leaving dog waste in any public place;
  • that the recommended and lawful behaviour is always to carry your bagged waste to a bin or take it home;
  • not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to encourage others to leave waste behind;
  • not to submit false, malicious, offensive, or deliberately inaccurate data (including fake bin locations or abusive feedback);
  • not to attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape, or automate access to the Service or its servers, including by placing pins or submitting data through automated means.

We reserve the right to remove content, restrict access, or block users who breach these terms.

3. Environmental responsibility and the law

Leaving dog waste — including bagged waste — in a public place and walking away is a criminal offence under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (as amended) and related legislation. The offence is committed at the moment the bag is left; intending to return for it, or actually returning for it, does not undo it. Penalties can include Fixed Penalty Notices and fines of up to £2,500 on prosecution, with separate penalties under dog-fouling laws and Public Spaces Protection Orders. Rules differ in Scotland and may differ under local council orders.

You remain solely responsible for knowing and complying with all littering, dog-control, and dog-fouling laws and local orders that apply where you walk. Please also read our Disclaimer and the "Your Responsibilities" section within it.

4. Crowd-sourced and third-party data

Bin locations are drawn from public OpenStreetMap data and from locations submitted by other users. We do not verify, endorse, or guarantee that any bin shown exists, is accessible, is in service, or accepts dog waste. User-submitted locations and feedback are provided by third parties and do not represent our views. You use all bin data at your own risk and should verify on the ground. 5. User-submitted content

When you submit data to the Service (such as bag pins, bin locations, or feedback), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and use that data for the purpose of operating and improving the Service, including in anonymised or aggregated form. You are responsible for ensuring anything you submit is accurate, lawful, and not offensive. Personal bag pins are stored temporarily and automatically deleted after a limited period; we do not guarantee retention of any submitted data.

6. Service availability

We provide the geolocation mapping, reminder, and notification features on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee accuracy of map pins, GPS positioning, distance calculations, or the delivery or timing of notifications. Environmental factors, signal loss, browser and operating-system restrictions, device settings, background-activity limits, and third-party service outages can all affect performance. We may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of the Service at any time without notice.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, or availability;
  • we accept no liability for any fine, fixed penalty notice, prosecution, legal cost, community complaint, or other loss, damage, or penalty arising from your use of the Service, including any decision to leave a bag in any location or any reliance on a map pin, bin location, or notification;
  • we accept no liability for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss;
  • nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud).

You agree to use the Service at your own risk and to take sole responsibility for your conduct and legal compliance while using it.

8. Advertising and third-party services

The Service may display advertising and use third-party services (including analytics and ad networks). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. Please see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Please check this page periodically.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you in your country of residence.
