About Bag It Bin It
Welcome to Bag It Bin It! Our mission is to help keep public footpaths, parks, and trails clean, safe, and beautiful for everyone — by making sure no dog waste bag ever gets forgotten and left behind.
The Problem
Dog walking is a wonderful activity, but it comes with real environmental responsibilities. The law is clear: dog owners must pick up their dog's waste and take it to a bin or home — and leaving a bagged bag behind, even briefly, counts as littering.
Despite good intentions, abandoned bagged waste has become one of the most-complained-about problems on UK paths. Sometimes a bag is set down for a moment and then genuinely forgotten — the owner returns by a different route, can't find where they left it, or misses it in long grass. The result is the same: a plastic bag left in nature, an unhappy community, and a possible fine.
Our Solution
Bag It Bin It is a lightweight, mobile-first tool — available both as a web app (bagitbinit.com) and as native apps in the mobile app stores — built to tackle forgetfulness head-on. It is a memory aid, not a substitute for doing the right thing.
Our goal is simple: to help responsible owners make sure a bag they've picked up actually makes it to a bin. Where a bag does get set down, the app's location pin, visual map indicators, active proximity tracking, and reminder notifications all work to make sure it's remembered and collected — not abandoned. And by crowd-sourcing nearby bins, we make it easier to find somewhere to dispose of it properly in the first place.
To be clear: the behaviour we encourage is always to bag it and bin it — carry your waste to a dog-waste bin, a public litter bin, or home. Bag It Bin It exists to help you never leave a bag behind, not to make leaving one acceptable.

Designed local-first to work in remote forests, valleys, and coastal paths with weak signal — caching map tiles and syncing in the background when you reconnect.
Community Driven
Crowd-source public dog waste bins and vote to verify which are still active, helping build an up-to-date, community-checked map of places to bin your waste properly.
